FHS Coach Doug Plemmons conducted a basketball clinic on the evenings of October 20th and 23rd for Franklin area 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Despite a Monday Holiday, the camp was well attended. Plemmons was very pleased with the turnout and the amount of work the boys put into the camp.
The clinic was designed to help aspiring young basketball players through exposure to skills and fundamentals of the game. At a cost of only $25, the camp also served as a bit of a program fundraiser for Panther Basketball.
Assistant Coach Si Simmons and many of the 2017-2018 Panther Mens Varsity basketball team helped with the camp over the two days. This gave young campers a chance to work hand in hand with the young men playing for FHS. In turn, it gave these young men a chance to connect with the "fans" that will be cheering them on this season.
After two good days of fundamentall skill work, the camp concluded Monday night with scrimmages. No doubt these two days gave young players a glimpse of what it would be like to play for MMS or FHS. At the conclusion of the camp, attendees received a camp t-shirt.
During the two days, Coach Plemmons stressed that this was a "program". And everyone involved was important to it's success. He also let them know that he hopes to see them in the Panther Den this winter cheering on the FHS Panthers as they play.
